PENI WEBSTER LEWIS - PROVEN LEADERSHIP
Ruth ‘Peni’ Webster Lewis has a distinguished background, marked by
her dedication to education, public service, and community involvement.
Her journey encompasses significant achievements in both her
military and civilian careers.
Early Life & Education:
Peni Webster Lewis was born in Washington, DC, and pursued her education through various schools in Maryland. She completed her undergraduate education in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland College Park and her graduate education in International Relations from the University of Florida. Her academic journey was unconventional, as she balanced family life, military service, and her studies.
Military & Professional Career:
Peni served as a Military Police Commissioned Officer in the US Army, holding various stateside and international assignments throughout her active duty and reserve military career. She transitioned to the Florida Army National Guard, where she served as the Provost Marshall for Camp Blanding, FL and attained the rank of Major. She served as the Battalion Executive Officer of the 347th at Fort Gillem, GA and concurrently, she embarked on a civilian career with Job Corps, progressing from an Orientation Specialist to the Acting Deputy Administrator for the National Job Corps Program, overseeing the training of nearly 26,000 students and 123 Job Corps Centers nationwide.
Community Involvement & Family:
Peni has been actively involved in community service initiatives in all seven districts through her work with her local AKA Chapter. Her contributions extend to her residential community, where she serves as the Communication Chairman for her Community’s HOA. She also served as the chartering president for the first divine nine sorority chartered in the City of South Fulton, and was appointed to and serves as the vicechair of City’s Veterans Advisory Board.
Peni is a wife to Samuel Lewis, mother, and grandmother. She and Sam are members of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Butner Road in South Fulton.
Peni believes that together, we can forge partnerships and create opportunities to move District 2 and the City of South Fulton toward a brighter future.
